Although the complete schedule has not been released yet, several stops have already been announced by the WPT . Two poker tournaments will take place this weekend in Indiana, with a buy-in of $1,500, and at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Florida, with a buy-in of $5,000.
On the other hand, the schedule for the National Series includes an event that will be held in February 2011 and that will be hosted by the Aviation Club in Paris, France. The tournament will feature a $5,000 buy-in. More tournaments and poker competitions will be announced in the near future.
Although the tournaments will use the WPT branding, they will not share much else with the World Poker Tour. Poker players who take part in these tournaments will not earn points for World Poker Tour standings and they will not have the chance to win a seat in the World Championship either. Besides, they will not have the opportunity to compete for the WPT bracelet.
These new tournaments were more likely introduced to compete with the European Poker Tour and the North American Poker Tour. Besides, they will be used to test possible tournament locations for future World Poker Tour competitions.
