The new winner of the PCA 2011 is Galen Hall, who used to play free online poker, proved to be the best player of the large field of players who played in the poker tournament. The final table saw Canadian player Phillipe Plouff leave first with a $202,000 prize. The next player out was Max Winberg who went all-in and was beat by Hall and sent home with a $300,000 prize.
Bolivar Palacios tried his best and went all in with 1,600,000 holding KdJh but he was also beat by Hall and was forced to go home. An hour later, Mike Sowers, the most experienced player in the table, went out next in fifth place with a $700,000 prize and leaving the other players with a guaranteed prize of at least 1 million dollars.
Thirty minutes after Sowers left the table, Sam Stein picked up his million dollar cheque. With only three players left on the table, expectations to see the two finalists grew. Finally, Romanian businessman Anton Ionel was beat while Hall and Oliver moved to the heads up.
Although Oliver went to the heads up with 20,000,000 poker chips more than Hall, it did not seem to bother the San Francisco player who showed calm throughout the game. Hall said he will use the prize money to pay for University studies in 2012 and he will continue playing poker.
