Staying in a Freeroll

Once a player has signed up into an online poker freeroll, he /she has a long way ahead. The fact that there are 2,000 players or more triggers off a fierce competition for the pot. What can you do to avoid getting off track and stay in the Freeroll? As there are no second chances, there are no complicated answers either - the key is to play safe.

However, a player may want to take a series of precautions to do it. First off, it is good to know that there are many bad players you can make advantage of. For example, if you have a QQ you may want to bid a great part of your stack. Bad players will certainly go all in with a king or an ace to force you to fold, or call.

Secondly, do not worry too much if you see your chances to win going too fast – be patient and have in mind that your opponent will be soon out. If a certain A or a K in the flop makes you outf or a couple of hands just bare in mind that poker freeroll players may not be too skillful. So, do not do any fancy thing before they are gone. After that, you will call your QQ and reassume your strategy.

Another good idea to stay in a poker freeroll is keeping your bluffing to an extreme minimum. As tournaments are really crowded you hardly get to know your opponent ‘s style, which would be crucial for a productive bluffing. Also remember that most bad players are eliminated at the first freeroll stages, so only raise on AA and call it if any player raises with all in. You may raise on KK or AK if you are feeling confident with your table.

Beware of players who bet after the blinds, as thy may have something - or they are too bad players... In a similar way, do not bet in first position if you do not have at least an AA, an AK, or a KK Always assume a player is not bluffing and fold if you are in doubt or until you get something good and useful enough.

Finally, pay attention to those who fold all the time but are not raising. Fold when they bet after a flop, provided you have a nut flush – at least an A or a K.

In general terms, if you keep in mind and apply these few pieces of advice, you will have a better chance to survive in poker freerolls. You won’t do terribly wrong if you follow these simple tips.
